Rossmoyne Senior High School provides an outstanding opportunity for students outside the school boundary to be part of a widely recognised and highly successful Volleyball program. With over 15 teams enjoying success in the Western Australian and National Schools Cup every year, Rossmoyne’s program has developed a state and national reputation for excellence.
Specialist Volleyball students set high standards as future citizens in the sport and recreation community. Students represent the school in competitions in both Perth and Melbourne, while also enjoying opportunities to gain referee and coaching accreditations. As an outcome, Rossmoyne’s program is highly regarded by the Western Australian and Australian Institutes of Sport.
As Year 8 students, at Rossmoyne Senior High School volleyballers are a part of a rich community of sports tradition as they develop general and specific skills for higher level participation. Concurrently with their physical education program, they receive special tuition in volleyball before school and attend a development camp at the end of term 1. They are then introduced to their team coach for competitions where they will be able to compete in state tournaments and the major competition at the end of the year, the National Schools Cup in Melbourne.
As the students’ journey through Rossmoyne’s specialist program continues into senior school, they will enjoy opportunities to study sports science through the Physical Education Course of Study in Year 11 and 12, where their volleyball experiences can contribute to their Tertiary Entrance Rank.
There is an expectation that students who enter the Volleyball Specialist Program will contribute to other aspects of the school’s sports programs.

NOTE
Students from within the school boundary enrolling at Rossmoyne
Students from within the school boundary enrolling at Rossmoyne who wish to be considered for the volleyball program are not required to make an application at this stage. These students will complete the selection process in Term 1, 2009.
Year 8, 2010 students who reside outside the school zone
Students who reside outside the school zone who wish to be considered for the program in 2010 are required to apply before 13 March 2009.
The following selection process will apply to these students:
1. Applications received by 13 March 2009;
2. Invitations to participate in performance testing by phone
by 27 March 2009;
3. Performance Testing at Rossmoyne Senior High School 25 March 2009
4. Offer of Acceptance to successful applicants either on the day
or by telephone; and
5. All applicants will be notified in writing.
Note that only a small number of places are available for students from outside the school boundary and entry is competitive.
