The Arts

Rossmoyne Senior High School is committed to offering students every opportunity to explore and develop their potential in Artistic Industries. Artistic Industries promote life long learning through the development of critical thinking and problem-solving skills. It promotes visual literacy, which enables students to analyse and interpret the meaning of complex visual imagery that permeates the media and popular culture, while cultivating imagination, self-expression, and creativity.
We offer an extensive programme within the Artistic Industries, catering for varying skill levels and supported by a variety of opportunities to showcase achievements within these fields. Students are invited to participate in one or more of the rich and diverse Arts experiences promoted by this Department.

Dance
Rossmoyne Senior High School offers a multi-award winning Dance program.  Dance develops students’ confidence and self-esteem and is gaining a high profile within the community under the direction of a professional choreographer/teacher.  Students participate in a wide range of performances throughout the year and are given the opportunity to audition for special projects.  Skills are developed in a range of styles including contemporary, jazz, hip-hop, ballet, tap, creative and capoeira.

The inclusion of boys in dance is growing at a rapid rate.  They have the opportunity to participate in break-dance sessions weekly and demonstrate their skills in Breakdance Battles throughout the year.  
 
Drama
Drama is an educational tool and art form that explores human behaviour in social and historical contexts. It provides the tools and opportunities to develop strong communication skills, and ways of working as part of a team, that underpin much of the workforce.

Music  
Students from all years enjoy and participate in a very active and highly successful Music Program.  Wind Orchestras, Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Strings, String Orchestra, Jazz Orchestras, Guitar Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, Brass Ensemble and Choirs provide students with many opportunities to participate in music making.  Tuition is offered in voice and on all major woodwind, brass, percussion and string instruments.

Visual Arts
The Schools Visual Arts Department is a highly successful and thriving area in the school. Courses include Art and Design, Craft and Design, Practical Arts, and Photography.
