LOWER SCHOOL – YEAR 8 AND 9 At Rossmoyne Senior High School the curriculum fulfils the requirements of the Curriculum Council and Department of Education and Training and therefore, provides learning experiences across eight learning areas. Most Year 8 and Year 9 students follow a common course in English, Science and Society and Environment. In Mathematics Year 8 students are grouped into extension, advanced or general courses based on Year 7 results. These groups are revised at the end of Semester 1. Year 9 students are directed to a course based on Year 8 results in that subject.
In Year 8 students study semester long elective courses with the exception of Class and Instrumental Music and Computer Extension while Year 9 students study two year long electives and one semester long elective.
The overall curriculum course structure facilitates a smooth transition from primary to secondary school for Year 8 students and maximises stability and pastoral care for both Year 8 and 9 students.
