EMOTIONAL LITERACY

Recently, our Head Girl, Oolka and Head Boy, Noriaki held a workshop for our Year 7s in the Hall on what is emotional literacy (one of our schools learning capabilities) and discussed what an ‘arena moment’ is. A moment where we may feel nervous or unsure but need to use courage to step outside our comfort zone. They explained how many of the Year 7s may have had an ‘arena moment’ on the first day of high school.
They also discussed with the Year 7s results of a recent survey they all completed on what matters most to the Year 7 cohort including, kindness, respect, honesty, being positive and reliable and gratitude. Oolka and Noraki emphasised that these values are what should guide the cohort as they move through Year 7 as that is what they have all voted mattered most to them as Year 7s at Rossmoyne Senior High School.
Following the address, the Year 7s meet with their student peer mentors who ran a session on emotional literacy.
It was wonderful to see our student leaders guiding our youngest students in their emotional literacy journey at high school.
