A Celebration of Excellence
Yesterday’s assembly marked a significant day at Rossmoyne Senior High School as the school and its students were acknowledged for their continued success. The event was particularly significant for two reasons; to celebrate the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA) Award winners and to receive the Excellence in Public Education Certificate from Sharyn O’Neill, Director General of the Department of Education.
The Principal, Ms Thomas began the proceedings with the acknowledgement of the 2015 Year 12 cohort who attained a 99% WACE achievement with 61 SCSA Awards and 25 students joining the Department of Education’s ‘99 Club’, meaning they achieved 99 or above in their ATAR score. Ms O’Neill began her speech by stating that she was delighted she was to be at the school to join the celebration of excellence and achievement. Ms O’Neill explained that last year an exemplary review of the school was conducted by a panel of experts. Its purpose was to identify practices that are contributing to sustained excellence at Rossmoyne. With 800 schools in the state, only a handful of Independent Public Schools are chosen to receive this special acknowledgement. Ms O’Neill stated that ‘Rossmoyne stands out amongst other schools’ for its combination of academic excellence and the kinds of people and citizens that are being developed at this school.
