School Board
School Board Chairperson - Ms Kirsty Barnetson LLB(Hons), MAICD
Kirsty Barnetson is the Chair and a community member of the Rossmoyne Senior High School Board. She brings her professional experience in management, law and governance to the board.
It has been exciting to see the values encapsulated in iCARE – Integrity, Connection, Aspiration, Respect and Excellence to see iCARE, so embedded in the day-to-day operations of the school. The school values represent what is core to Rossmoyne and its culture, and what underpins the success of our students. It has also been satisfying to be involved as the School has successfully implemented innovative and meaningful ways of delivering on the strategies and targets in our Business Plan. The school’s focus on the whole student, and equipping them for the future, has continued to drive and shape our school culture and the key strategies to be a school of excellence, of which we can be proud.
It is a privilege to work with the board to support the school in its commitment to achieve positive outcomes for all our students, and reaffirm our great desire that our students leave our school as capable, compassionate and confident members of our global community.
School Board Member - Mr Alan Brown B Ed, Dip Tch
Alan Brown is the Principal of Rossmoyne Senior High School and member of the School Board. He brings his professional experience in education and school leadership to the board.
The Board of Rossmoyne Senior High School provides an avenue for members of our school community to provide significant input into the future of the school through their work on the priorities of the current Business Plan and their input into key school policies. The Board is made up of parents, staff, students, community members and industry representatives and played a significant role in the development of the Business Plan 2026 – 2030. The strength of the School Board lies in the strong engagement of this group to ensure that Rossmoyne Senior High School provides the best educational pathway for every single student. As principal of Rossmoyne Senior High School, it is a pleasure to be part of the board and work with this committed group of people to make Rossmoyne the best school it can be.
School Board Member - Dr Michael Dockery BBus(Econs), PhD(Econs)
Michael Dockery is community member of the Rossmoyne Senior High School Board and former parent member. He brings his professional experience in tertiary education and educational research to the board.
As a graduate of Rossmoyne Senior High School and parent of two recent students, I’m pleased to be able to continue to contribute to the School Board as a Community Member, after having served an initial term as a Parent Member. I have over 30 years of experience in the tertiary education sector as a lecturer and researcher. My research has focussed on improving labour market, education, and wellbeing outcomes for marginalised groups within Australia, and has included extensive analyses of education and training outcomes and the school-to-work transition. I have a strong belief in the importance of equality in educational opportunity for young people and hope my expertise in education policy can help to support the work of the Board and shape the school’s strategic direction.
School Board Member - Mr Andy Farrant Dip Teach WA, Post Grad Diploma Arts Management, GAICD, FRSA
School board member Andy Farrant brings a diverse professional background to the Rossmoyne Board. He has an arts and sciences qualifications and extensive experience in organisational leadership in non-profit and commercial sectors.
He feels great privilege to be a very small part of the board of a school that is recognised for its holistic approach to growing and enriching the lives of the large number of students as they lay their foundations for rewarding and impactful lives.
School Board Member - Mr Michael Pailthorpe B. Bus (Marketing), MBA, GAICD
Michael Pailthorpe is the CEO of Sonshine and is a community member of the Rossmoyne Senior High School Board. He brings his professional experience in executive leadership, governance, and communications and marketing to the board. He has also served for 5 years as P&C President of the school.
As a parent of four former students and one current student I am looking forward to continuing to bring my perspective and experience to the board to as it works to collaboratively monitor the school’s performance against its business plan objectives.
The school has a wonderful brand, reputation and culture of excellence and we need to keep working hard to ensure this is maintained and enhanced across all aspects of school life. Similarly, I’m keen to see that the school continues to actively connect with and engage its stakeholders, to challenge itself and to strive to deliver the best possible outcomes for its students, parents, staff and wider community.
School Board Member - Prof Gordon Parkinson BSc, MSc, PhD, FRSC, FRACI, FRMS, C Chem
Gordon Parkinson is a community member of the Rossmoyne Senior High School Board. He brings his professional experience in tertiary education and industries to the board.
It is a pleasure and privilege to be a member of the School Board, working with staff, students and members of the community, all of whom are committed and passionate about the importance of education and in particular about the excellent institution that is Rossmoyne Senior High School.
A key responsibility of the School Board is to provide input into the development, and ultimately endorsement, of the School Business Plan. Given the rapidly changing world we live in, and consequent uncertainty about the future that our students will face, we are keen to help prepare them to be as ready as possible to face whatever they will encounter. A particular focus now is addressing the challenges that AI brings to teaching and learning, and the future impacts it will have on life beyond school.
School Board Member - Ms Chandrika D'Mello BArts(Psych), Grad Cert in Migration Law, Grad Cert in Counselling
Chandrika D’Mello is community member of the Rossmoyne Senior High School Board and a parent of a past student. She brings her professional experience in business ownership and tertiary education to the board.
“Over the past four years, it has been gratifying to observe RSHS students exemplify the iCARE values of the school, and integrate the mission of the business plan into the school community. The newly constructed buildings foster collaborative learning, whilst catering for individual needs, as the school continues its commitment to prepare students for their future roles in the world. It has been an honour to serve on this board alongside such forward-thinking individuals, as we endeavour to support the school in adapting to changing demands.”
School Board Member - Mr Patrick Chen BCom (Accounting and Finance), CPA
Patrick Chen is a P&C Vice President and P&C Representative member of the Rossmoyne Senior High School Board, and a parent of former students. He brings his professional experience in management, accounting, leadership, pastoral care, young people, chaplaincy, and networking to the board.
Education is our currency today for a better tomorrow. Not just learning facts but training minds to think. Not just how to make a living but how to live. Thus, RSHS is about preparing future ready citizens to confidently face an uncertain future in this rapidly changing landscape.

School Board Member - Mr Frederic Ong BCom (Accounting and Finance), MBA, FCPA, GAICD
Frederic is a community member of the Rossmoyne Senior High School Board and brings professional experience in finance, governance and organisational leadership. He currently serves as a Fractional Chief Financial Officer, providing strategic financial leadership to growing organisations, and is also a member of the Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee for the City of Stirling, contributing to oversight of financial reporting, risk management and organisational accountability.
I value the strong culture, high expectations and deep sense of community that define Rossmoyne Senior High School, where consistent academic performance and broad co-curricular opportunities reflect a commitment to excellence and student growth. I believe effective governance plays an important role in sustaining this environment and supporting students to achieve their full potential.
I am committed to working collaboratively with fellow Board members to support responsible financial stewardship and long term planning. This helps ensure Rossmoyne can continue to invest in high quality teaching, strong student support and meaningful opportunities that prepare young people for further study, careers and active participation in the wider community.
School Board Member - Vanitha Ram
I am a parent board member who has joined the Rossmoyne Senior High School Board this year. Originally from Singapore, I have been teaching for over 20 years, specialising in a range of subject areas across both countries and currently am the Senior Science Specialist at a primary school.
As a proud mother of a dynamic young person who is equal parts excited and anxious about the challenges ahead of her, I am committed to bringing to the board the concerns and views of an engaged parent. Together with my experience as an educator, I am also confident in communicating balanced perspectives.
I look forward to serving on the RSHS Board because I believe that a strong partnership between school and home is integral to a child’s growth and success. Having seen how much this school offers and does for the student body through regular school communications and in the RSHS P&C Committee, I would now like to be directly involved in promoting the school’s objectives while ensuring opportunities are equitable to all students, and caters to student needs beyond academic excellence.
School Board Member - Mr Paul Grundy
I am currently the Principal at Riverton Primary School, from which a significant number of students at Rossmoyne SHS originate and am also the Network Principal for the Riverton Rossmoyne schools network.
It is therefore a privilege to be on the Board to provide some support and expertise for the important link between the local primary schools and the secondary school. Having worked for 43 years in education, in both the secondary and primary sectors, 28 years of which have been in leadership positions, I hope that I can use my experience to support Rossmoyne SHS and its community through my involvement on the School Board.

I am very pleased to be a staff member and now on the Board at Rossmoyne Senior High School. I truly believe in the ethos and values of the school, we strive to support future leaders that are capable and excellent.
It is my intention being part of the board to contribute a voice for staff and students and to listen to insight of our stakeholders and wider community. I believe this partnership is fundamental to Rossmoyne culture of excellence and high aspirations. I look forward to collaborating on the 2026-2030 business plan.

I’m very pleased to be joining the Board and be given opportunity to work alongside people so committed to making sure Rossmoyne Senior High School is doing everything we can to provide the very best educational experience for our students.

School Board Member - Student Representatives
Students Annie Z (Year 11) and Audrey Y (Year 10) are valued members of the school board and join as representatives of the student voice.
They are both members of the Student Council.
