HAVE SUM FUN

This year, Rossmoyne had the honour of hosting the Intermediate Have Sum Fun (South Metro) competition for Year 9s and 10s. Have Sum Fun is an annual team problem-solving competition organised and promoted by the Maths Association of WA. 180 students from schools all over the south metro region descended upon us to battle for the title of Champion Problem-Solving Team. The competition was fierce; after four rounds, the top four teams were within four points of each other, bringing the tie-breaker question into play, and when all was said and done, we were proud to announce Rossmoyne Team 1 as the victors! Second place went to Penrhos College, with Rossmoyne Team 2 rounding out the top three. An honourable mention goes to our third team, who finished 8th out of 30 – no mean feat!
On the same night, the Year 7s and 8s battled in the Junior Competition at John Curtin College of the Arts. The result was pleasing in its symmetry, with Rossmoyne taking first place there too. We must also acknowledge our Senior Teams, who took time out of their busy study schedules to represent Rossmoyne at Trinity College on Friday, 8th March, bagging a respectable 3rd place.
