HASS Tour 2018
In the first week of the winter school holidays, 41 Senior School HASS students and 4 teachers embarked on a week-long tour of sights of importance to Australian history, politics and economics. Starting the tour in Sydney, we visited the Reserve Bank of Australia, the Maritime Museum, and like all good tourists saw the iconic Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge, as well as Taronga Zoo.
Next stop was Canberra, our nation’s capital, where the majority of the tour occurred. We visited the War Memorial, Old & New Parliament House, the Tent Embassy, High Court, the Diplomat Academy at DFAT, the Australian Defence Force Academy, National Film and Sound Archives, Embassy Drive and the National Museum. All places of incredible national significance that greatly expanded our knowledge of our chosen HASS subjects. The trip was financially supported by the Federal Government which helped keep costs down and allowed as many students as possible to expand their horizons in the world of HASS.
