Interschool Athletics Carnival 2020
The 2020 Interschool Athletics Carnival (SSWA A Division Track & Field Carnival) took place in Week 2 of Term 4 and saw Rossmoyne Senior High School achieve 1684 points, the highest on record for the school.
Despite the tremendous effort on the score board, Carine Senior High School managed to pip us at the post to come away with the win. Rossmoyne finished at second place, a feat that hasn’t been managed since 2002.
Congratulations to all RSHS athletes, and competing athletes from the other competing schools – it was a great day and an incredible display of athleticism and sportsmanship from all involved.
Highlights of the day included our Year 7 Boys relay team setting a new record of 49.96 seconds, beating the old record of 51.48 seconds which was set by another RSHS team in 2018.
Our Head of Health and Physical Education teacher Ms Lisa Sommers said overall, the carnival was an amazing day.
“Athletes all supported each other and reserves stepped up to fill injured and fatigue competitors,” she said.
On the side lines, event officials commented that they were impressed by how well behaved and well-mannered Rossmoyne students were.
“The way they interacted with both external staff and students was exemplary.”
Congratulations to all students being wonderfully respectful and graceful in the way they represented the school.
