Year 10 is a transition year that sees students continue to learn across compulsory subjects and enjoy electives, as they begin to select their pathway for Year 11 and beyond.

Results achieved in Year 10 determine which Year 11 courses are available to students’ the following year.

As with all year groups at Rossmoyne Senior High School, the Year 10 curriculum fulfills the requirements of the School Curriculum and Standards Authority and the Department of Education.

The flow of the Year 10 curriculum course structure on from Year 9 is designed to continue the students’ learning progress, preparing them for their chosen pathway in Year 11.

Year 10 subjects and classes

Year 10 students at Rossmoyne take classes across compulsory subjects and choose four (4) elective subjects.

Year 10 compulsory studies

Year 10 students at Rossmoyne Senior High School take classes across eight compulsory subjects:

  • English, or English as Second Language
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS)
  • Physical Education or Volleyball
  • Health

Year 10 elective studies

As well as their compulsory studies, Year 10 students choose four (4) additional subjects from a range of electives*.

*Elective subject preferences can be submitted online and every effort is made to accommodate student preference.

Specialist programs

Rossmoyne Senior High School runs three Specialist Programs in Classical Music, Volleyball and Mathematics. These programs commence in Year 7 but have some late-entry opportunities.
