Year 7 Lightning Carnival 2021
Year 7 student spent Friday 6th August for their Lightning Carnival.
The carnival gives students the chance to showcase their talents in AFL, Soccer, Basketball and Netball against other schools across the south metropolitan area.
On the soccer fields our Year 7 Girls Team competed in their first ever lighting carnival at Winthrop Reserve. They played in A Division and showed great sportsmanship and commitment throughout the day. Their improvement in soccer over the last 3 weeks has been amazing.
Across with the Boys Soccer Team, A2 Division won the flag to finish the day as the best-non-specialist school! The Boys B Division team came 2nd, an impressive result.
Both boys and girls teams took to the basketball courts. Our Boys A Division played hard to finish in first place. Our Girls in A Division played hard and in good spirits, but didn’t secure any wins, landing them in 4th place overall. A lot of fun was had by all.
At Fremantle’s Frank Gibson Park our Netball teams finished 1st overall in Division A2, and 3rd overall in Division B1. The girls are to be congratulated on their sportsmanship and resilience in the heat.
On the AFL oval our Year 7 Boys worked hard all day, going down early to Willetton and Applecross before winning a tough match against Leeming. The boys entered finals at 3rd place, playing off against Leeming to maintain their 3rd place finish. The hard fought contest had many highlights and ended in a thrilling 1 point victory for RSHS.
A huge thanks to the Year 10 coaches and referees for their amazing efforts throughout the day.
