AUSTRALIAN BUSH FOOD

As part of our Year 12 General Food Science and Technology course, students were challenged to plan a nutritious meal for a specific demographic group using at least one Australian bush food.
This task encouraged students to think about how culturally appropriate recipes can support health and wellbeing while recognising and valuing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander food knowledge. By incorporating native ingredients into modern meal planning, students explored the important role that bush foods can play in creating healthy, sustainable and culturally respectful food choices.
A fitting activity to celebrate NAIDOC Week and acknowledge the rich food traditions and knowledge that Australia’s First Nations Peoples have shared for thousands of years
