INDIGENOUS PRINT SCRUNCHIES

Mrs Neave’s Year 9 Fashion and Fabrics students created scrunchies using Indigenous print fabrics as part of Rossmoyne’s NAIDOC Week. This project supported the school’s Capability of Ethical and Cultural Understanding, encouraging students to recognise and respect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures while reflecting on the importance of cultural appreciation through thoughtful and respectful design. “Art needs to be seen to be heard.” By making and wearing these scrunchies, students celebrate the beauty of Indigenous art and help keep stories, culture and conversations visible within our school community.
