THE COUNTDOWN IS ON

A significant milestone in launch history is about to occur in Australia. The launch window for Gilmour Space Technologies’ Eris Test Flight 1 opened on Thursday morning at their facility in North Queensland. This event marks the first time an Australian-made rocket will attempt to reach orbit from Australian soil.
Eris is a three-stage rocket powered by a hybrid rocket engine and some Rossmoyne Knowledge. Matthew Pengelly left Rossmoyne in 2015 to study engineering at Cambridge University before joining Gilmour Space as a graduate. Matthew is currently one of the aerospace engineers working on the rocket. He also served as our keynote speaker at the Valedictory in 2023. We wish Matthew and the entire team good luck with the impending launch.
