TIMBER DECORATIONS

Ms Gibbs-Jones’ Year 7 Woodwork students combined digital design with traditional making by creating their own personalised timber decorations.
Students used a vector graphics program to design an original decoration, developing their creativity while learning how digital designs are prepared for manufacturing. Their designs were then laser cut and engraved before being carefully coloured and finished by hand, giving every student a unique keepsake to take home.
This project highlighted a range of the Rossmoyne Capabilities, with students demonstrating creativity, digital capability, problem-solving, precision, resilience and pride in producing a finished product from concept through to manufacture.
It’s always rewarding to see every student’s personality reflected in their final design and the students loved trying something new and exciting.
